mPower 2 Achieve
Mpower2Achieve enables young people in the UK to re-engage with education by working with bikes.
Mpower2Achieve [M2A] projects: are bespoke training and development courses designed for young people can offer a practical and non-academic alternative to mainstream education enable learning of new skills and development of existing skills centre on repairing, maintaining and improving bicycles transform attitude and behaviour boost confidence
M2A works in tandem with bikes4Africa, jole rider’s project delivering refurbished bikes to Africa. Applying their skills to bicycles which will change lives for young people just like them in Africa delivers a real sense of what young people's actions can achieve.
M2A enables young people to transform their negative views of themselves, through gaining vocational skills, and develop a sense of ownership and pride, by completing practical projects.

Young People – Fresh Choices was an M2A project in Wiltshire schools.
The project was funded by the Criminal Justice Service.
Young People – Fresh Choices: was designed to re-engage students excluded, or at risk of exclusion, from school was delivered to schools in Wiltshire at a heavily subsidised rate was a hands-on training and development course facilitated real engagement boosted self-esteem achieved attitude and behaviour change combined vocational training, green transport and healthy activity
Students received skills training in bicycle maintenance and repair skills in their own schools. A strong African context emphasised the power participants have to change the lives of other people less fortunate. Students were invited to take part in loading a container with the bikes they fixed up which were shipped to Africa.
Outcomes included behaviour improvement, increased school attendance and greater participation in other activities within school. Quotes included:
